Welcome to AntiquesEverywhere. Recently, I was having a corporate strategy meeting with our Director of Operations and our V.P. of Marketing. My wife walked by and told me it was time to put the staff (4 and 6) to bed.
My name is David Hansen. During the day, I make my living working in the IT Department of a Marketing company. In the evening - as time permits - I work on AntiquesEverywhere.
Although the IRS would currently classify AntiquesEverywhere, Inc. as a hobby, my goal is to someday turn it into a break-even hobby.
I became interested in antiques while growing up. Over school breaks, I would work in my parent's antique store in Masssachussets. I loved seeing all of the fascinating old items that would come into the store: brass microscopes, leather-bound books, old maps, musical instruments, etc. Over time, my interest and excitement for antiques only grew.
In 2006, My wife and I bought an 1860 Victorian and have slowly been filling it with antiques.
My impression is that the internet has become a great tool for individuals to find and buy antiques directly from other individuals.
But that some of the best antiques are in antique stores and malls. And there isn't yet a graceful system for shoppers to find the antique stores that best meet their needs. With the help of store owners, I hope to build that system.
